Dr. Kabaei Explains Robotic Knee Replacement
Watch Dr. Kabaei explain how the Mako™ system works, why precision planning matters, and how he personalizes each patient’s recovery.
How Robotic Knee Replacement Works
Before surgery, a CT scan of your knee is used to build a 3D model of your anatomy. Dr. Kabaei uses that model to plan implant size, position, and alignment around the way your knee is actually shaped. In the operating room, he performs the surgery himself, using the Mako™ robotic arm to help guide bone preparation within the boundaries of that plan.
- Personalized Surgical Plan: Your implant plan is built from a 3D model of your own knee rather than standard measurements.
- Precise Bone Preparation: Robotic guidance helps Dr. Kabaei follow the plan accurately, which supports proper alignment and joint balance.
- Tissue Preservation and Recovery: Protecting surrounding soft tissue may mean a more comfortable recovery, and many patients walk within hours and go home the same day.
Full recovery takes several weeks to a few months, and physical therapy begins shortly after surgery. Dr. Kabaei sees you personally at every follow-up visit.
